CADILLAC — It won’t be long before the Plaza at Cadillac Commons becomes more than just a dream or vague conception of the mind based on rough illustrations.

Organizers say it could be completely finished as early as August.

The Cadillac Commons is a collection of four major projects in the Cadillac park area, including the Plaza, the newly-renovated Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion, the open-air farmers market and extension of White Pine Trail into downtown.

The Plaza portion of the project includes the complete redesign of the parking lot behind the Elks Lodge, […]

Today the colored and stamped concrete samples were placed! These are done so we can make sure the colors and stamping pattern is to our specification before all the concrete is placed. The colors will continue to change over the next couple of days, it’s a really cool process!

system, and the bases for the decorative light poles. Drainage structures and the storm sewer pipes are also in, and curb work has started.

A base layer of asphalt for parking should be in place by the Freedom Festival, and could be used for parking, however once the event is over, the area will be closed […]

CADILLAC — Officials in Cadillac hope to fund several miles of street repairs and a parking lot improvement project by taking out $3.3 million in loans.

Following council approval of this plan on May 16, city staff last week ran notices in the Cadillac News of their intent to “issue municipal securities in one or more series, in an amount of not to exceed $3,300,000” over the course of 15 years.

In layman’s terms, this means city officials intend to solicit loans the city will pay back through multiple sources of revenue, including the street fund and Downtown […]
